Megan Anna Rapinoe is a Californian born on the 5th of July 1985. She started playing soccer from a very young age and sharpened her abilities during her teenage years. She then attended her first University of Portland in Oregon with her fraternal twin sister Rachael Rapinoe. Megan Rapinoe became a soccer player at the University of Portland, being one of the collegiate women's soccer's most prolific scorers. The team was forced to suspend soccer in her junior as well as her sophomore year due to an injury to her knee. In her junior year, she played soccer again full-time and won all games. She earned a bachelor of sociology degree from University of Portland. SOCCER CAREER: In 2009, the Chicago Illinois Red Stars of the new Women's Professional Soccer WPS league drafted Rapinoe. She was a part of the league until 2010, at which point the league was dissolved. After a short stay in the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Independence Rapinoe was transferred to the Boca Raton Florida magicJack. She scored two goals in just eight games helping to guide the magicJack to a third place finish in the league in the same season. The magicJack was disbanded in the latter half of 2011, and the WPS was disbanded in the beginning of 2012. Rapinoe had a brief stint with Sydney Football Club FC (Australian W-League) in the year 2011, prior to going back in the United States. In the following year, she was a player with the Seattle Washington Sounders Women - currently Sound FC. The Sound FC was located living in France for in 2013 for the season. It was the Seattle Reign FC - now OL Reign - of the National Women's Soccer League NWSL that was established after the WPS disbanded - then became her own team. Her first FIFA Women's World Cup was in 2011. The contributions of Rapinoe helped her to enable the U.S. Women's World Cup to take home two titles in 2015 and 2019. In 2018, she took on the position of cocaptain to the team. Rapinoe's two goals were part of the 4-3-2 United States victory against Australia in the Olympics in 2020 Tokyo. Japan, however, was delayed to 2021 after the COVID-19 virus had passed.
